Instrument Workshop & Hire Scheme

Over 6,300 instruments are currently on hire to pupils in the County.

Once the pupil has been accepted for tuition the school will arrange for an instrument to be provided.

All our instruments are insured against accidental damage at no extra cost.

Guitars and the full range of orchestral
and band instruments are in stock and
usually ready for immediate despatch.

Gloucestershire Music have a workshop staffed by a team of trained technicians to undertake repairs.

Hiring an instrument gives you time to assess progress
and aptitude before embarking on purchase.

Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme

The AIP Scheme provides an opportunity to buy an instrument at a fraction of the normal purchase price.

Gloucestershire Music is able to sell instruments free from VAT to pupils who receive lessons through our Teaching Scheme or are members of a County Music Group . Although this scheme is not new, regulations have relaxed enough to make it possible for us to offer this really valuable opportunity to our pupils and music group members.

This Scheme is not available to adults nor to pupils receiving lessons outside of LEA provision.

Full details of the criteria to be satisfied are detailed on the application form, which is available on the downloads page or from Colwell Arts Centre.

There are two routes to making a purchase:

  • A parent can source a new or second-hand instrument from a VAT registered retailer of their choice.

  • Gloucestershire Music can order an instrument from their normal suppliers at education discounted price. Simply telephone the Music Office for a quote.

Either way, your purchase will be VAT free
